Hailing from Yeosu, South Korea, Kisoo's childhood was filled with the sights of ships and trains due to his hometown's port and train station. His passion for drawing began early, with walls becoming his canvas. Kisoo studied Fine Art at Hong-Ik University in Seoul and, in his mid-forties, moved to California with his family. Now an artist and children's book illustrator, he has over 30 years of teaching experience, enhancing his exceptional drawing skills and allowing him to nurture emerging artistic talent.

As an artist situated in California, a region abundant with diverse sources of inspiration, he finds himself surrounded by a plethora of novel stimuli. The myriad elements comprising this locale—ranging from individuals and fauna to landscapes, sunlight, wind patterns, and the passage of time—converge to form a wealth of original creative fodder. Lately, his artistic endeavors have revolved around the very essence of "humanity" itself. His objective lies in capturing the exquisite manifestations inherent in human gazes and gestures through the medium of brushstroke and color. Additionally, he exhibits a predilection for a palette dominated by black and white or monochromatic tonalities, a choice that underpins his artistic preference.
